Josef Lanner (1801–1843) was one of the pioneers of the Viennese waltz, shaping its development alongside his contemporary Johann Strauss Sr. *Die Romantiker*, Op. 167, composed in 1840, exemplifies Lanner’s lyrical elegance and refined orchestration. The waltz blends graceful melodies with delicate harmonies, evoking the charm and sentimentality of the Romantic era.
